Accessibility Statement

This website is run by the George Nympton and Queen's Nympton Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible .e.g.

  • some of the financial documents of the Council are PDFs of scans of official signed documents and hence not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • all the Agenda and Minutes of the Council are published as PDFs - although these are all simple text documents and have been tagged in accordance with good practice.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to:

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

- the FInancial Reports are PDFs of scans of official signed reports - as such they can not be made accessible

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs are essential to providing our services - Agenda and Minutes of the Council are produced in PDF format for email purposes, and then uploaded to the website.  As indicated above, every effort is made to ensure these are simple, image-free, tagged PDFs in a format that will not cause accessibility issues.  The only exception are the Financial Reports mentioned abouve.
